For acrylic paint, I recommend Utrecht Studio Series Acrylic from Blick.com, but you can use whatever brand you like. It will all work. I love the Utrecht Studio series because it's a great quality paint and less expensive than most. Perfect for new Dabblers!

What matters more than the paint is the way you apply it to the canvas with palette knives. For convenience, I’ve included an online link where you can add all the paint you'll need for all "Fall Wishes" into your cart at once. Just click on the green button below:

My favorite Acrylic Paint is DabblePaints™! I created my own line of acrylic paints specifically for my Dabblers. Here is why they are the best:

1. Lightfastness Ratings: DabblePaints™ boast top lightfastness ratings, ensuring your creations stay as radiant as the day they were born. Your masterpieces will remain true to their colors, standing the test of time for generations to come.

2. ACMI Tested: Safety first, always! Our paints have the seal from the Art & Creative Materials Institute for non-toxicity. So, you can delve into your artistic adventures with complete peace of mind.

3. Professional Quality = Less Fillers: DabblePaints™ are bursting with pure, high-quality pigments, which means less fillers and more intensity in every stroke. Embrace smooth consistency, richer colors, and superior coverage, allowing you to create your visions with easier artistic finesse.

Made in Brooklyn, New York, Utrecht Studio Series Acrylic Paints are milled using the same intense pigments and quality vehicles as Utrecht's professional acrylic line but in a medium viscosity formulation that provides an economical choice for the budget-minded artist and educator.

If you already have acrylic paint and want to order some of the 16 oz. paint colors separately, click on the individual links below...

Other Acrylic Paint Options...

Utrecht paint will always be my first choice--it's just the most economical for the quality of paint you get, but if you're in a hurry you can always go to Hobby Lobby or Michaels and get either Master’s Touch Thick Body Acrylic, Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylic or Golden Artist's Acrylic. All 3 brands are reputable and will work well with our impasto, palette knife style.

Master's Touch Unbleached Titanium....similar to Utrecht's Buff White

Master's Touch Yellow Oxide….similar to Utrecht's Yellow Ochre

Master's Touch Brilliant blue….similar to Utrecht's Light Blue

Master's Touch Ultramarine Blue (red shade)....similar to Utrecht's Ultramarine Blue

Master's Touch Alizarin Crimson Hue….similar to Utrecht's Crimson

**You can also get Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylic or Golden Heavy Body Acrylic from any Michaels Craft Store. But those brands are more expensive and in my opinion, not worth the extra $$.
As you know, we LOVE our sponges! It's our secret trick for mapping in backgrounds super fast and easy! You can find one in any grocery or home improvement store, but for convenience sake, I've included a link to my favorite sponge that you can order online. This is the highest quality sponge you can get, so you'll be able to reuse it over and over when you paint. Just rinse it out after each use, and lightly moisten when you're ready to use again.

Kirkland Baby Wipes are just the best! Don't bother getting anything else. It's one of our favorite studio staples. We use it for everything from wiping off your palette knives to painting clouds. You can either get a case on your next trip to Costco, or order online from Amazon.

Option #1: Blick Studio Canvas

Blick Studio Stretched Cotton Canvas is a great quality canvas and very affordable--perfect for the learning Dabbler. It's a "gallery wrap" canvas which means the sides are deeper (1 ⅜" vs the standard ½"). This will also allow you to hang your painting on the wall, frameless. Trust me, you don't want to have to deal with framing!

You can choose whichever size canvas you want, but below are some of our more popular sizes...

Blick Studio Stretched Cotton Canvas - 11'' x 14'', 1-3/8'' Gallery Profile

Note: You can also get canvas at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Master’s Touch is a good brand from Hobby Lobby. But the best price and quality is usually Blick brand for canvas and Utrecht for paint. And you can get free shipping if your order is over $50 (and what order isn't? Lol).

Option #2: Premier Heavyweight Canvas

Blick Premier Heavyweight Cotton Canvas is the canvas I use if I'm doing a commission or creating art for Galleries. It never warps and everything about it is heavy duty. It's my very favorite canvas! It is more expensive than the Blick Studio Series...but worth the extra expense if you're selling your art professionally. I especially like to use Premier when going large--36x48, 48x48 or 48x60, for example.

Click on the button below and choose the size you want!

**Note**
Getting Canvas From Michaels or Hobby Lobby

My favorite canvases are the Blick ones listed above...but if you get in a bind and need something quick, go to Michaels or Hobby Lobby and get their "Level 3" Canvas. I recommend getting "Artist's Loft" from Michaels, or "Master's Touch from Hobby Lobby."

Need A Palette?

If you don't have a glass table top for a palette yet, and you want a non-disposable palette, I recommend this glass palette. It's made with 1/8" tempered glass for maximum strength and safety. A set of four corner guards (included) adds protection and surface traction. When it's time to clean up, dried acrylic paints easily peel away so you can use the "skins" for our "Post-Palette Art" series. The goal is to be to save all of those cool leftover paint scrapings...and this will help!

If you are looking for palette paper or disposable palettes, this is what I recommend. This paper is great for easy clean-up and making paint skins!

If you are in my Club, then you need to invest in a real easel! Being able to raise and lower your painting will save your back! Here is an easel I recommend

Step 5

We use baby wipes for everything from cleaning off our palette knives, wiping paint off our hands to mapping in clouds! They are so versatile! We love the Kirkland brand the best. You can either get a case on your next trip to Costco, or get one on Amazon Prime by clicking on the link below.

Using a sponge is my secret trick for painting in the backgrounds FAST and easily! We also use a sponge to map in clouds and mountains quickly. Who knew??!

Any cellulose sponge will work. You can find them at any Grocery store or Dollar store. We’ll be using a simple sponge to do all of our backgrounds super fast and easy!

You can also order them in bulk from Amazon.com. Here's the best price I've found for a case of 24:

This Palette Cart is completely optional...but if you are looking for the perfect "studio" set up, this palette cart provides a convenient table where you can mix your paint and store all your paint containers. The tempered glass top is ideal for scraping your palette "skins" after the paint dries and the shelving is perfect for storage.

Here’s the Amazon link if you'd like to order this Palette Cart:

This Palette Cart is also not mandatory...but the tempered glass top will provide you with a perfect mixing table for your home studio. The tempered glass allows you to scrape the dried palette "skins" and use it in what I call "Post-Palette" Art series.  Plus, this Palette Card will provide lots of good storage for all of your paint tubs.

Metallic Paint Options...

Metallic Accents by Rust-oleum is a great backup if the Blick Artists' Acrylic Iridescent Silver is unavailable, or if you're just looking to change things up and do something new! These metallic shades are gorgeous. The White Pearl I use if I want to add a little sunshine to the Aspen or Birch trunks. Just apply it over the top of the white paint for an added "pop!"

Rust-oleum Real Pewter
Rust-oleum Soft Gold
Rust-oleum Champagne
Rust-oleum White Pearl

***After you order your supplies, I recommend logging into the membership site and reviewing the First 5 videos. That way you'll be all ready to start painting as soon as the supplies arrive.
