Frequently Asked Questions
  • How does the video tutorial program work?
  • Our video tutorial program teaches your nonprofit how to take an entry-level staff member, a basic web camcorder and begin producing your own web videos.
  • From beginning to end, we help you write the script, film the scenes, edit the footage, and publish the finished video on the internet.
  • How much is this all going to cost?
  • The only costs incurred will be around $200 for basic camera equipment and an annual subscription to our video tutorial program. Visit our pricing options page to find out which package best fits your nonprofit.
  • Why do I need an annual subscription?
  • knowledge retention - creating web videos is a process: write the script, shoot the video, edit the footage and publish the finished product. An annual subscription provides access to the tutorials as you need them throughout this process, instead of trying to digest everything at once.
  • technology changes - we are the tech gurus so you don’t have to be. As new opportunities arise for nonprofits to leverage web video, we expand our tutorials.
  • staff turnover - our program is designed with the staff turnover of the nonprofit sector in mind. If your video dabbler leaves your nonprofit, our tutorials will create a much smoother transition for their replacement.
  • What kind of equipment do I need?
  • An inexpensive web camera, a tripod and some rechargeable batteries for an approximate total of $200.
  • I thought video production was expensive?
  • Traditional videography IS VERY expensive! Producing videos fit for television requires pricey, high-definition camcorders that produce large file sizes, which need fast computers to polish the footage into a final product. All of which takes lots of time, people, equipment & subsequently money.
  • However, web video is viewed on substantially smaller screens. This means cheaper equipment, smaller file sizes and quicker editing.
  • Do I need to buy special video editing software?
  • Nope. Nearly every PC running Microsoft Windows contains a free and powerful video editing software called Windows Movie Maker.
  • What kind of computer do I need for video editing?
  • A very basic PC. We use Windows Movie Maker for video editing so if you meet its system requirements, you're all set.
  • Do I need previous experience working with video?
  • Nope. None. Nada. If you've ever taken a picture with a digital camera and have watched a video online, you'll do just fine.
  • What happens if I try the tutorial program and can't do it?
  • We are so sure of your success that we offer a money back guarantee. If you try the let's dabble video tutorial program and can't produce a web video to your satisfaction, you get your money back.
  • I guess that means you've got nothing to lose but donors ;)
  • Can I put the videos I create on YouTube?
  • Absolutely! The great thing about web video is that once it's created, it costs little to nothing to publish wherever you want (YouTube, Facebook, MySpace, blogs, etc).
  • Do my donors need to install anything to view my web videos?
  • For the vast majority of users, no. Most web videos, like those hosted on YouTube, use the Adobe Flash Player which is installed on 95% of internet browsers. So if they can watch a video on YouTube, then they'll be able to view your video.
